The Master of Hospital Administration programme (MHA) aims to develop a cadre of professional managers for the rapidly growing hospital and healthcare sector. The VUCA world compels hospitals and healthcare organizations to employ qualified managers with wide and divergent skills. The MHA programme prepares students for leadership roles in the hospital sector through providing training in planning, operational and project management of hospitals, including orientation to the managerial aspects of clinical and support services. The programme also imparts training in managing financial, material and information systems in hospital settings and builds the perspectives, professional values and skills needed for managing people. The students are required to undergo three internships of 8 weeks during the two years in different hospital settings, which are aimed to enhance knowledge by integrating classroom learning to practice. All are required to undergo three internship placements arranged by the school anywhere in the country. The MHA degree is designed to be completed in four semesters spanning over two years. The students of the MHA programme find jobs to manage a variety of specialised services in hospitals, both in the private and in government sectors. Their job description includes managing various departments of large hospitals as well as planning and designing new services and new hospitals. In the past, students have found employment in leading corporate-and trust-run hospitals in various states of India. In recent years, career opportunities opened up in various other sectors such as hospital consultancy, health care IT, Health technology, and health insurance.

Program Objectives :

• To enable students to understand hospital as a social organisation apart from it being a medical organization.
• Impart conceptual and practical perspective to understand hospital as a complex adaptive system.
• Training students to look into the management of resources like man. Money, Materials to achieve predetermined objectives of hospitals
• Orientation on fast changing social. Political, economic environment on the functioning of hospital and health care organizations

Program Outcomes :

1. Develop professionals with emotional intelligence to work in the dynamic environment of hospitals and health care organisations.
2. The professionals coming out of program can work in the areas of operations, Materials, Marketing, Business development in hospital and healthcare organizations. They can also work as administrators of Midsize - large sized hospitals across functional areas.
3. The program will build competency to work in consultancy organization pertaining to hospital. Health care, healthcare IT, hospital planning

Note:

1. The list indicating the total number of credits, list of CBCS/ Swayam courses and semester-wise listing of courses is provisional, and may undergo some changes.
2. Hospital internships are scheduled across various states and Students will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. The Hospitals decided by internship co-ordinators will be final.
3. As per the curricular requirement, the School of Health Systems Studies organizes the internships and all students are required mandatorily to undergo and complete all the requirements of the internships.
4. Value-added courses (0 credit) will be compulsory at the end of Semesters I and III (30 hours each or 60 hours total).
5. Exit option is available at the end of Year I
