Normalisation of CUET Scores for Fair and Comparable Merit Assessment: TISS receives applications from students across India who appear for different CUET subject papers such as Economics, Sociology, Political Science, History, and others. Many students also choose to appear in more than one subject paper. Since the difficulty level varies across subjects, comparing raw marks directly would not be fair. Therefore, TISS does not simply consider “how many marks a student scored,” but rather “how well the student performed in comparison to others who appeared for the same paper.” through a robust scientific method. This relative performance is then converted into a common score, allowing students from different subject backgrounds to be assessed on a fair and comparable scale. If a student has appeared in multiple subjects, the best-performing score is considered for the merit list.
